Originele Tsjechische titel (uit 1897) van Einzug der Gladiatoren/The Entry Of The Gladiators/L'entrée des gladiateurs/Thunder And Blazes, het beroemdste circuslied. Als Einzug der Gladiatoren gaat bladmuziek terug tot 1900, als Thunder And Blazes, de variant voor blaaskapellen, tot 1901. Het is die laatste variant die het als standaardwelkomstune in circussen schopte. Send in the clowns!

Fucik (1872-1916) was een leerling van Dvorák en werd bekend als marsencomponist. Ook zijn Florentiner Marsch werd wereldberoemd, al was het nog maar omdat die elke dag in Auschwitz gespeeld werd bij het in- en uitmarcheren van de gevangenen.
